David Bruce, MSW, LCSW, JD

Coordinator of Social Services

David Bruce, LCSW David, as a generalist social worker, provides versatile assistance to many of our patients. He functions as part of our psychiatric and psychological support for those of our patients who benefit from psychotherapy. David wears other hats as well. He performs case management functions, acting as a mediator to link our patients with other social service organizations for additional assistance.

David's special interest in research has seen him working with the medical and psychosocial department personal in the Institute to develop research studies, providing new and innovative drug and non-drug therapies for our patients. As a patient advocate, David is available to help remedy various forms of discrimination against those with epilepsy. With his background in knowledge of Hispanic culture and language, he was the logical choice to head the Institute's Hispanic Outreach Program. As a result, the Institute provides seizure assistance to an increasing number of Hispanic patients from Mexico to Chile. Consistent with social work's commitment to the financially disadvantaged, he was publicized on radio and T.V. the Institute's availability to all, irrespective of ability to pay for medical or psychosocial services.
